Artic Nova

Artic Nova has developed a peat processor which can substantially increase the profitability of using peat as a fuel.

The process has been developed by Leif Nilsson, Lanåns Svets & Konstruktion in Överkalix and Karl-Erik Ek, KEEK Biobränslen, Kalix. They have many years of experience of machine development for the production of small pieces of peat. Karl-Erik Ek has also been working as an expert within Skogsägarföreningen (Forest Owners' Society), Domänverket (the Swedish Forest Service) and Vattenfall (the Swedish State Power Corporation).

Small pieces of peat have a diameter of approximately 20 mm after they have been dried and are similar to pellets. Attempts have shown that small pieces of peat have considerable advantages compared to conventional peat pellet manufacturing technology, among other things greater harvests, faster drying, easier handling and lower operational and maintenance costs. The production technique tested by Sweden's Agricultural Society and Skellefteå Kraft has shown considerable potential.
