Midsummer

With experience from CD manufacturing and the semiconductor industry, Sven Lindström and a group of technicians have together developed an alternative technology to produce cost-effective solar cells.

The market for solar cells is growing by 40 percent annually but is checked by the increasing shortage of silicon. Globally, growth is greatest in Japan, Germany and Spain. In the manufacture of Midsummer's thin-film solar cells, silicone is not used. Midsummer is now just about to start manufacturing so that it can offer cost-effective solar cells to a market where demand exceeds supply.

"Solar cells have a global potential and as of today, there are no other Swedish companies that produce solar cells. Midsummer's cost-effective manufacturing concept impacts positively on the commercialisation potential.
