StormLED

LED lighting provides approximately the same energy savings as low-energy bulbs but without the production of substances that are dangerous to the environment.

They also have a service life which is ten times greater, which is one reason why they are used in, among other things, traffic lights. The problem is the price. They cost around SEK 700-1200 today. Today's LED lights are made of gallium nitride.  StormLED make use of a new semiconductor material, zinc oxide, in combination with advanced nanotechnology and a new cost-effective manufacturing process. It not only provides lower energy use and a low price but also improves light quality. The technology provides a white and stronger light compared to other blue or ultraviolet light-emitting diodes.
Light-emitting diode technology has been developed by a research group at Chalmers headed by Professor Magnus Willander who formed the company StormLED in order to commercialise his ideas.
