Development of wind power will play an important role in this mission. The Agency has been appointed by the Government to promote the development of wind power, taking a holistic approach to encourage its rapid expansion.
Today wind power plays a minor role in Swedish electricity supply. However, Sweden has considerable potential for increased wind power. We also have an advantage of a large available area, a favourable support scheme and specific knowledge from targeted research.

In 2010 wind power contributed to 2.5 per cent of the Swedish electricity production, with the installed capacity and generation of electricity from wind power increasing by 40 per cent compared to 2009.
