Energy management systems
In 2003, a Swedish standard for energy management systems was adopted (SS 627750). In 2009, this was replaced by the more or less identical European standard EN16001.
A company which introduces an energy management system in accordance with a standard can also obtain certification, a certificate showing that the company applies energy management conformity with this standard. The standard sets out a number of points the company must follow when it introduces the system.
The companies participating in the PFE shall implement a standardized energy management system. The system must, within the first two years of the programme, be certified by an independent certification body. Within the remaining three years of the programme, the company must continuously improve the energy management system.
Documentation from the third party EnMS certification shall be submitted to the Swedish Energy Agency. The Agency also cooperates with the certification bodies and SWEDAC (the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment) in order to see that the certifications and re-certifications continue according to plans.
Additional requirements for companies participating in PFE
Companies participating in PFE must introduce and obtain certification for an energy management system during the first two years of the programme period. PFE also sets stricter requirements on energy reviews, purchasing of high-consumption electric equipment and planning procedures. above when energy management systems are introduced.
