20 million to research in energy work in Swedish municipalities
The project Sustainable municipality now takes a further step in energy-, and climate work. A total of 20 million has been granted to the second phase, a research program and a research project on spatial planning.
The research program "Sustainable Municipality" which includes 16 million to fund research on the interaction between the Swedish Energy Agency and a large number of municipalities and some regional players carried out in collaboration program Sustainable municipality, which aims to support municipalities and regions in their work with energy and climate issues. The research program runs from September 1, 2009 to 31 December 2012. A first announcement will be made in autumn 2009.
Furthermore, the Swedish Energy Agency to grant 4.3 million to the Royal Institute of Technology, for the continuation of research in physical planning. This research is carried out also in the context of Sustainable Municipality and will run until December 31, 2011. The research is led by adjunct professor Ulf Ranhagen.
The research project aims to assess and analyze the physical structure and the urban form instruments for energy efficiency. The project is a continuation of the research conducted in the pilot phase for Sustainable Municipality. 40 municipalities will participate in workshops where the process and methodology support.
