Syftet med projektet är att öka prestandan och överlevnadsförmågan för vågkraftsparker genom att utveckla effektiva simuleringsverktyg och styrsystem. Projektet belyser ett viktigt område som kan bidra till att sänka kostnaden för vågkraftsparker.
Ärendesammanfattning (eng):
If wave power is to take the step to a reliable and effective renewable energy source, the cost of its energy must be strongly reduced and its survivability improved. This proposal addresses both these questions with an integrated approach. A simulation tool containing both the hydrodynamical as well as the electrical system of wave power farms will be used to optimize the power production, and a control method for farms with the combined purpose of increasing the power production and minimizing the maximal forces in extreme weather conditions will be developed. Scale tank tests and unique off-shore experiments will be performed. The data will be used to validate the control method and the simulation tools. The simulations will further be used to evaluate the economic performance of wave power farms. The suggested project combines expertize of some of the foremost actors both within academia and industry, and has the capability to take wave power technology a crucial step forward.
