Ärendesammanfattning:
I ett vågkraftverk baserat på punktabsorbatorteknik omvandlas bojens rörelse till el i en så kallad power take off (PTO). Detta projektets syfte är att utveckla ett roterande PTO-system med en vinschbaserad lösning. Den vinschbaserade lösningen ska vara mycket uthålligare än tidigare använda lösningar vilket möjliggör ett billigare och lättare vågkraftverk.

A popular wave power concept is the point absorber, which consists of a buoy at the surface and a Power Take-Off (PTO) system that extracts energy from buoy movement. Most PTO systems are linear, which limits the stroke length and introduces end stops. A rotating PTO system having a winch system with a rope, wire or chain would be more low-cost. Then, no end stops are needed which lowers the maximum forces on the wave power device several times. Thereby, the whole system can have a much lighter construction, which reduces cost substantially. Further, the height of the PTO system is not related to the stroke length, which reduces the size and cost of the system substantially. Rotating PTO systems have largely been blocked by one key problem: to make a durable winch system. In this project, we try to solve that problem by developing a special chain with bearings between the links. Such a chain is expected to have a life time that is orders of magnitude longer than an ordinary chain.
