Sealing around the window

Having proper weather seals around windows and doors is important to keep down the heat losses and the heating costs.

In order to make visible heat losses, you can use a heat camera which reveals the temperature of various surfaces in the room.

The window in the picture has been photographed with a heat camera which clearly shows the areas in the room which are warm and those which are cold.

The light-yellow areas in the picture are warm and the dark-blue surfaces are cold. Around the window, there is a cold dark area which reveals that there are no weather seals. The room is a little more than 22°C, but around the window, the temperature is around 16°C.

The heat losses that arise are completely unnecessary and can easily be rectified by fitting new weather seals. The investment cost of the operation is low.
