GoalArt AB
GoalArt AB develops a product for alarm management within smart grids, i.e. intelligent electricity networks. The product is based upon GoalArt AB's technology that can identify the root cause in a complex fault situation.
The need for such a tool for smart grids is confirmed by both the grid companies as well as the suppliers of control systems. Likewise, much attention has been called to the need for the tool to be able to handle the large quantity of signals the grid of the future is expected to consist of.
International university research
The technology will handle being scaled up to a very large system with a large quantity of signals. GoalArt was founded in September 2000, and is based on research in artificial intelligence and automatic control engineering that was performed at Lund University, Stanford University and the Technical University of Denmark. The Managing Director and one of the founders is Jan Eric Larsson, a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology in the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University.
The intelligent so-called smart grid of the future will contain a much larger number of monitored units than today, and many units will be connected to both the electrical grid and the communications network. Manual troubleshooting, such as is performed today, will not function efficiently in the future in a network of this size.
GoalArt AB is developing a product for alarm management within smart grids that can identify the root cause in a complex fault situation. The root cause analysis takes a large alarm cascade and reduces it down to the quantity of independent original causes. All other alarms can be suppressed.
