Noda

NODA's system for controlling the district heating network is based upon using advanced optimisation technology to exploit the energy buffer on connected properties in order to reduce peak loads and energy consumption.

The company consists of CEO Dr. Frederik Wernstedt who together with Christian Johansson, now a Board member, and Professor Paul Davidsson, now a part-owner, performed the research on the unique technology that Noda is now developing. On the Board, there is solid experience in the district heating industry with Erik Dotzauer as well as Stefan Håkansson, the Managing Director of E. ON Värmekraft.

Peak loads are accommodated to a large degree today by peak load boilers with fossil fuel, which releases a large quantity of carbon dioxide and other items that affect the environment negatively. With the use of dynamically distributed load management, successes has been achieved in evening out variations in the district heating load while reducing energy consumption at the same time. This causes the needs of peak loads to be reduced and leads to district heating suppliers being able to choose to ultimately phase out or mothball one or more peak load boilers.

The basic concept is based upon 10 years of research within the area of dynamically distributed lead management at the Blekinge Institute of Technology.

”The methods that are used today for load management of the district heating network involve prognosis management and the introduction of rates based upon time or the power utilised. These methods function precisely, however NODA has succeeded in demonstrating that significant additional energy efficiencies are possible.”
