Research, innovation and development
The Swedish Energy Agency funds research and innovation to support Sweden’s sustainable energy transition, nationally and internationally.
We take a holistic and strategic approach to Sweden’s energy transition, building the knowledge and expertise needed for long-term change. Through targeted research and innovation, we support the development of sustainable energy systems.
We fund research on energy supply, conversion, distribution and use, and assist in the development of new technologies. The funding is aligned with national and international climate and energy policies.
The Agency takes part in international research collaborations, including within the EU, focusing on renewable energy and innovative energy systems. We also provide practical support for applications to EU energy programmes.
