Swedish heat pumps capture 15 TWh renewable energy

The Swedish Energy Agency has delivered a report to the Oslo Group on Energy Statistics on how to include heat pumps in national and international energy statistics.

The report, written by Jan-Erik Nowacki, concludes that captured heat from ground, water and air amount to 15 TWh renewable energy. 7,5 TWh of electricity is added for running the heat pumps yielding a total heat pump output of 22,5 TWh.
The report also suggest a change in how OECD/IEA and EUROSTAT should define energy from/to heat pumps.
