Ärendesammanfattning:
Syftet med projektet är att utveckla en fullskaleprototyp av en ny typ av linjärgenerator för att demonstrera dess funktion. Generatorn är av transversell flödestyp (dubbelsidig) med delvis nya egenskaper. Projektet motiveras av att det finns ett behov av linjära generatorer med högre effekt och lägre kostnader.
Ärendesammanfattning (eng):
A challenge with direct driven wave power (and marine current power) is that the power is delivered with very low speed and large force, which makes it hard to convert the kinetic energy into electricity. Thereby, these direct driven generators are very large compared to their power rating and they typically have poor efficiency. For direct driven point absorbers, the cost of the generator is a large part of the total cost of the wave energy converter. The main applicant has developed/invented a new type of generator that is several times smaller for the same power rating compared to the permanent magnet synchronous generators that are typically used today, and that have a significantly lower material cost. It also has extremely low losses. The new machine is a transverse flux machine and has similarities with some machines described in the literature, but it also has some new properties. In this project we will build one linear and one rotating generator to demonstrate the technology.
