The Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS) is one of the world’s most influential forums for transport electrification, gathering approximately 11,000 experts, researchers, businesses, and public authorities from around the globe each year. This year’s conference was held in Gothenburg from 15 to 18 June, with Swedish participation organised in close cooperation between government agencies, industry actors, and innovation environments.

– EVS 38 was an important opportunity to present our efforts in the transition towards a sustainable transport system. We showcased our funding instruments in the mobility sector, including the current battery call and the Future Mobility programme, which promotes Swedish-American collaboration, said Verena Adamheit, Business Developer at the Swedish Energy Agency.

New Opportunities for International Cooperation

During the conference, the Swedish Energy Agency gave presentations on Sweden’s battery arena and the Nordic battery value chain. Several meetings were held with international delegations – including from France, Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Germany – opening the door to continued dialogue on research collaboration, investments, and policy development.

Through its presence at the exhibition, the agency strengthened its relations with key focus markets such as Germany and the US, while also initiating potential partnerships in markets such as Canada, which the agency has identified as a new area of strategic interest.

– We are already discussing concrete forms of cooperation, with a focus on knowledge transfer and capacity-building, as well as research collaboration and business opportunities for small and medium-sized Swedish companies. Another track we aim to pursue is attracting young, innovative international companies interested in establishing themselves in Sweden, said Verena Adamheit.
