Data from the Short-Term Forecast
The statistics presented in the tool are part of Sweden’s official energy statistics. In some cases, we have access to time series dating back to 1970.
Sweden’s Energy System – An Overview also includes the short-term forecast. This forecast is an assessment of what is most likely to happen in the coming years, based on historical data, current trends, and external analysis. It is updated twice a year.
The short-term forecast is not part of the official statistics. Forecast data in the tool is clearly marked as such.
Please note: some content is currently only available in Swedish. An English version is under development. However, all tables in the statistics database are available in English – including official statistics, forecasts, and energy indicators.
The Difference Between Forecasts and Scenarios
In the future, long-term scenarios will also be added to Sweden’s Energy System – An Overview.
The difference between forecasts and scenarios lies in their purpose and methodology. A forecast represents the most likely outcome, while scenarios illustrate possible development pathways.
Forecasts are used to anticipate developments based on data and show the most probable short-term future.
Scenarios are used to explore alternatives and prepare for different outcomes, helping us understand several possible long-term futures.
Regular updates, in-depth analysis, and continuous monitoring of external factors make our forecasts and scenarios a reliable source for gaining a realistic picture of the future energy system and its potential development paths.
