Identification Registration Organisation (IDRO)

The main task of IDRO is to manage unique identification codes for operators of charging points and providers of mobility services.

Identification codes are important for standardising communication and facilitating, among other things, billing processes between electric vehicles, charging stations and service providers.

The responsibility of the Swedish Energy Agency

The Swedish Energy Agency has been tasked with being the responsible agency for the registration of identification data. Regarding identification codes for CPO operators, the Swedish Energy Agency has established a register based on regular extracts from the Nobil database. The identification codes required within IDRO will be the same as those defined in the communication protocol OCPI, Open Charge Point Interface, which is also used in Nobil to provide dynamic data.

For identification codes concerning eMSP operators, the Swedish Energy Agency maintains a register based on self-reporting. The Swedish Energy Agency relies on certification from the registering operator and therefore cannot guarantee that the registered codes are not used by another actor.

An identification code may be registered by an operator who certifies that the code has been in active use by the operator for at least three months and that the code is unique and, to the best of the registering operator’s knowledge, has not previously been used by any other operator.

Notifications should be sent to nobil@energimyndigheten.se
