Bilateral climate agreements

The Swedish Energy Agency is responsible for Sweden's programme for International Climate Cooperation. On this page we have collected our current bilateral climate agreements.

According to the Swedish national climate targets, Sweden shall reduce greenhouse gas emissions not covered by the EU Emission Trading System with 63 percent from 1990 levels by 2030 and reach net-zero emissions by 2045.

Part of the 2030 target can be achieved through supplementary measures, including through international climate cooperation with other countries under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. For this purpose, the Swedish Energy Agency has so far signed bilateral agreements with three countries.
