The Swedish Energy Agency’s mandate
The Swedish Energy Agency monitors, analyses and promotes the transition to a fossil-free energy system and a secure energy supply. We play a central role as an agency with a specific responsibility for civil preparedness and hold sectoral responsibility within the energy field.
The Swedish Energy Agency is regulated by the Government through the instruction and annual appropriations directives.
We supply facts, knowledge and analyses on the supply and use of energy in society and are responsible for Sweden’s official energy statistics.
We provide support for research and development of future energy solutions and new technologies and promote business development that enables the commercialisation and wider adoption of innovations.
We participate in international climate cooperations and manage initiatives such as the electricity certificate system and emissions trading.
We work towards a resource-efficient society and share knowledge on efficient energy use with households, businesses and public authorities.
We collaborate with authorities, municipalities, regions and other stakeholders to strengthen society’s ability to manage energy supply during crises and heightened preparedness.
Our vision – a future with sustainable energy for all.
