The Swedish Energy Agency’s mission for efficient energy use

Efficient energy use means utilising existing energy resources as efficiently as possible – without compromising functionality or benefit.

It is a prerequisite for reducing climate impact, lowering energy costs, strengthening energy security and creating a long-term sustainable energy system.

The Swedish Energy Agency promotes efficient energy use in Sweden through several initiatives:

Legal requirements and market surveillance

• We work to ensure that products sold on the Swedish market meet current regulations, for example through testing and monitoring of energy labelling and ecodesign.

Financial support and guidance

• We allocate government funding for energy efficiency measures across various sectors.

• We finance a national energy and climate guidance service, which offers free guidance to households and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Research, innovation and knowledge sharing

• We fund research and innovation projects that contribute to new solutions for efficient energy use.

• We work to spread knowledge and information to facilitate the transition throughout society.

Broad engagement across society

• By working systematically and across sectors, we create conditions for a more energy-efficient and sustainable Sweden.
