Time delays
There are controlled time delays for certain actions in the Union Registry that you as an account holder or account representative should be aware of. The delays are in place to increase the security of the registry.
Time delays and public holidays affect:
- how long it takes to complete a transfer to another account
- how long it takes to add an account to the Trusted account list
Transaction delays inside the Trusted account list
All transfers to accounts included in Trusted account list are carried out immediately if they are proposed between 10.00 and 16.00 CET on working days.
The Union Registry takes the following into account when completing processes:
- Working day: Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays in the Member States).
- Working hours: 10:00 – 16:00 CET.
- Transfers proposed between 10:00 and 16:00 CET on a working day will be executed immediately.
- Transfers proposed after 16:00 CET will be executed on the following working day at 10:00 CET.
Transaction delays outside the Trusted account list
There are time delays for transactions to accounts not on the trusted account list:
- Approved before 12:00 CET: Will be completed by 12:00 CET the next business day.
- Approved after 12:00 CET: Will be completed by 12:00 CET the second day after it was initiated.
Please note: It is possible to cancel a transaction outside the trusted account list up to 2 hours before the transfer takes place.
Registration of an account in the Trusted account list
Registration of an account in the Trusted account list automatically includes a delay of four working days before the account is approved and added to the list in the Union Registry. For Person holding accounts under the Kyoto Protocol, the delay is seven working days. There is no way to circumvent the delay that is in place to protect the account.
All accounts belonging to the same account holder are automatically added to the Trusted account list.
Processing times
An application for an account in the Union Registry must be processed by the Swedish Energy Agency within 20 working days of receipt of a complete application. However, it is usually done much quicker than that.
If an application is rejected, the applicant will be notified. If we need extra time to review the application, an additional 20 days of processing time may be used. In this case, the applicant will be notified.
Public holidays
The Union Registry is closed for transactions on Saturdays and Sundays. During public holidays (according to Act 1989:253), the Swedish part of the registry is closed, which extends any waiting times by one working day. You can see the current dates for the year below.
If the recipient account for a transaction is administered by another Member State and there are other public holidays registered there, this may affect the time when the units are delivered to the account.
