The international negotiations between the world’s nations are the central part of the climate conference, and this year’s climate summit has a clear focus on implementation. At the same time, panel discussions, seminars and meetings are taking place alongside the negotiations, where decisionmakers, researchers, business leaders and environmental organisations can exchange thoughts and ideas. The Swedish delegation brings together some of Sweden’s leading and largest companies, as well as authorities and organisations with expertise in technology, finance, policy and collaboration.

International climate cooperation

A key reason for the Swedish Energy Agency’s presence at COP31 in Türkiye is establishing climate cooperation on emissions trading under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The aim with this type of cooperation is to enable emission-reducing activites in low- and middle-income countries that support these nations with their green transition, whilst also contributing to Sweden’s ability to meet its own climate targets.

Contributing to the global energy transition

The Swedish Energy Agency’s international work encompasses research, innovation and business development. Part of this work involves promoting innovations that contribute to energy and climate policy objectives, for example by helping Swedish companies establish themselves in international markets.

The UN Climate Change Conference, COP31, is taking place from 9 to 20 November in Antalya, Türkiye. The Swedish Energy Agency will be present at the Swedish pavilion organised by Business Sweden, alongside other Swedish authorities, organisations, academia, companies and politicians.
