This is the fourth year of the Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day in Stockholm. The purpose is, just like previous years, to offer investors the opportunity to learn more about Swedish Sustaintech companies.

During the event, more than 30 companies will pitch their solutions to specific investors. These companies are at different stages of development and are looking for different types of capital.

− Sustaintech companies meeting the investor sector is vital, in order to accelerate the development of new green technology and succeeding in the energy and climate transition, says Mikael Fjällström at the Swedish Energy Agency.

The Sustaintech companies have been selected by an independent jury, the criteria being that they can present a solution or product within Sustaintech (sustainable technology regardless of industry with some type of tech component), and also, rapid sales growth and scalable business models have been prioritised.

This year’s selection includes solutions for solar energy, transport, sustainable textile production, food waste among others. The event's official website has a detailed presentation of all participating companies.

Electrification - the theme of the day

The event will be inaugurated with a speech by the Minister of Energy and Digital Development, closely followed by the Swedish Energy Agency's Director General Robert Andrén.

The theme for this year’s event is “Electrification – pathway to the future” and besides company pitches, the official programme also includes several lectures and panel discussions on the theme.

Among others, Ola Källenius from Mercedes Benz and Emilia Käck from SCANIA will discuss challenges and enablers for the energy transition in the transport sector. Ganesh Chandramouli from Alstom and Johan Granström from ABB will address issues in infrastructure and dive into the concept of "the fifth wave of electrification".

Still open for registration

So far, more than 200 investors have registered for the event, which will be held at Norra Latin in Stockholm on 22 March 2022. Investors include business angels, corporate ventures, VC companies, mutual funds, and public financiers. There are still tickets available.

Registration is made on the event's official website.

Previous events have had positive results

Among the hosts of the event are Swedish Energy Agency and the business incubator STING. Today, Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day has several national and international partners. Previously, the event has attracted around 450 participants, the majority being investors, both Swedish and international.

H.R.H. Prince Daniel has previously chosen to support the event by being the inaugural speaker for several years. In a post-event survey, participating investors were asked about their experience, and 80 percent declared that the event increased their interest in investing in the industry.

− The event has contributed to many companies gaining increased exposure and it has helped them strengthen their position on the market as well as raising capital, in Sweden and internationally, says Mikael Fjällström of the Swedish Energy Agency.

The Swedish Energy Agency supports companies in market introduction

Among the thirty companies participating in Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day, more than half have benefited from one or more of the Swedish Energy Agency's support and funding for business development. Support has been given for everything from basic research to concept development and market launch − both in Sweden and internationally.
