Home electronics

  • Use the switch to switch off both the TV and the computer, and unplug the battery charger when it is not in use. All equipment in the home that is not switched off by means of a switch uses energy when in the stand-by mode.
  • You can set your computer to switch off the monitor when it has not been used for a while. The setting is usually called the “rest mode”.
  • When buying a new TV, find out its energy consumption. A 32” LCD or plasma TV does not use much more electricity than an ordinary TV of corresponding size, but people often choose a bigger TV when buying a new set. A 40” TV can consume as much as 300 W.
