About ChargeNordic

ChargeNordic is a Nordic collaboration accelerating heavy-duty road transport electrification across the Nordics, running 2025–2027, funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Electrification of light-duty vehicles has progressed rapidly across the Nordic countries. However, heavy-duty road transport still faces major technical, infrastructural and economic challenges. Although these vary by country, they are largely shared for long-distance and cross-border transport. ChargeNordic addresses the need for coordination and joint knowledge development to enable robust electrified transport corridors within and across the region.

Purpose and strategic focus

ChargeNordic aims to build a shared Nordic understanding and knowledge base on the electrification of heavy-duty road transport, providing analysis to support strategic decision-making. The programme focuses on charging infrastructure, policy development and systems perspectives, including issues of vulnerability and resilience. Nordic cooperation strengthens the basis for competitive, reliable transport solutions and a joint Nordic voice in European processes.

Knowledge exchange and joint outputs

The programme seeks to establish a Nordic network and knowledge platform for exchange between public authorities, industry, research and other relevant actors. Activities include joint analyses, scenario work and workshops, resulting in a consolidated knowledge base and a joint Nordic policy document. ChargeNordic will also prepare the ground for future Nordic demonstration projects, without directly initiating or financing them.

Long-term vision

ChargeNordic’s vision is to act as a catalyst for the continued transition of heavy-duty transport in the Nordic region by bringing actors together, structuring knowledge, and highlighting shared needs and opportunities within the electrified transport system.
