The Swedish Energy Agency is responsible for personal data when processed in our activities. This entails an obligation to comply with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation. We process personal data for various purposes. It is common for different types of contact information to be collected by the agency to be able to fulfil our tasks.

The Swedish Energy Agency, in its role as a national administrator, requests so-called personal data relating to private individuals. Personal data is defined in the General Data Protection Regulation.

"any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person."

The personal data you provide to the Swedish Energy Agency will be processed in accordance with Swedish law. The Swedish Energy Agency’s processing of data primarily regards administering the registry for emissions trading, the Union Registry.

The Swedish Energy Agency is the personal data controller for its processing of your personal data. For information in the Union Registry, the responsibility is shared between the Swedish Energy Agency and the European Commission. By submitting a signed request for information, you can find out what personal data the agency has registered about you and how it is used.

Anonymisation of personal data in the Union Registry

Anonymisation of a user’s personal data in the Union Registry takes place 5 years after the user (representative) has had his or her access revoked. The access can be revoked by the user himself, by another representative representing the same account holder, by a signatory, or by the Swedish Energy Agency in its role as National Administrator.
