Engelsk energieffektivisering
Här hittar du massor av goda exempel från England. Till varje case hittar du mer information om bland annat hur mycket energibesparing som uppnåtts.
Clapham Retrofit, London
The property has been retrofitted using a whole-building approach to achieve extremely high standards of thermal performance and airtightness, adopting materials and detailing complementary to the building’s fabric and historic significance.

St Michael and All Angels Church, Withington
Following an analysis of energy demand patterns and efficiency, efficient services and controls were installed together with an underground biomass pellet boiler and a PV array hidden behind the parapet walls, installed using a bespoke self-weighted system to prevent damage to the roof covering.

Lauriston Place, Edinburgh
Several of the individual flats (from basement to top floor) have received retrofit measures including fabric insulation to roofs, walls, floors and windows, heating system upgrades, renewable energy technology and behavioural support.

Bloomsbury Townhouse, London
Formerly used as offices, the property has been returned to a family home. It has been retrofitted using a whole-building approach to achieve extremely high standards of thermal performance and airtightness, adopting materials and detailing complementary to the building’s fabric and historic significance.

Kentish Town House, London
The property has been retrofitted and extended using a whole-building approach to achieve very high standards of thermal performance and airtightness, adopting materials and detailing complementary to the building’s fabric and traditional aesthetic.

Kelmarsh Hall
This project involves the installation of a water source heat pump to provide space and water heating to a large country house in rural Northamptonshire. The original construction comprises solid brick walls, suspended timber floors, a timber and slate roof and single-glazed timber windows.

The Nook, Brighton
The property has been retrofitted using a whole-building approach to achieve high standards of thermal performance and airtightness, with occupants remaining in the house for the majority of the works. Planning complexities were negotiated to achieve an insulation strategy that was in keeping with the property’s traditional aesthetic

Grove Cottagem Hereford
The property has been retrofitted using a whole-building approach to achieve extremely high standards of thermal performance and airtightness, with occupants remaining in the house for the majority of the works. While most of the insulation was external and the roof was rebuilt, the project aimed to retain the traditional aesthetic of the front elevation. The rear extension was re-worked and further extended.

Grey´s Court, Oxfordshire
In 2006 the roof of the building was stripped, repaired, insulated and re-finished using natural, vapour-permeable insulating materials sympathetic to the building fabric. The works were carried out as part of an extensive programme of conservation repairs that included asbestos removal, timber floor repairs, fire protection improvements and internal decorations. Great care was required at all stages of the roofing project to protect the fabric and retain the original detailing.

Woolleys Firs Enviromental Education Centre, Berkshire
The whole building has been refurbished and comprehensively retrofitted, using materials and systems sympathetic to the original and new building fabric. Works included internal insulation to the roof and walls, lime plaster finishes, an insulated limecrete floor with underfloor heating, a ground source heat pump and new efficient windows, as well as extensive repairs.

Hawthorn Road, London
The property has been retrofitted using a whole-building approach to achieve high standards of thermal performance and airtightness, adopting mostly natural materials and a design strategy complementary to the building’s fabric and historic significance. The primary energy demand has been reduced by over 70%.
Full case study: Hawthorn Road, London (pdf, sparaochbevara.se)
Follett Street, London
The property has been retrofitted with the occupants in situ, using a whole-building approach to achieve good standards of thermal performance, adopting mostly moisture-open materials and a design strategy complementary to the building’s fabric and historic significance. The primary energy demand, CO2 emissions and air permeability have been reduced significantly without targeting extremely low figures.

Frome, Somerset
The occupants are planning a significant whole-building retrofit, implementing much of the work themselves over several years and largely with occupants in situ. The emphasis is on robust, sympathetic, low-impact measures that achieve significant levels of thermal performance, enhance the original character of the house and require minimal post-retrofit interaction or maintenance.

Refurbishment case studies, Historic Enviroment Scotland
This case study relates to not one but a series of retrofit projects carried out by Historic Environment Scotland on traditional buildings across Scotland. Since c.2008 they have been involved with research, trialling, monitoring and reporting on thermal improvement options for traditional and historic buildings. Unlike many individual, private projects they have reported extensively on the processes, technical considerations and monitoring findings of these projects, providing a valuable resource of information for others involved in this field.

Solid Wall Insulation Guidance, Bristol
This case study relates not to a physical retrofit project but to the production of comprehensive, cutting-edge technical guidance on insulating traditional and historic buildings. The guidance was prepared by a team of experts led by the Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance (STBA) on behalf of Bristol City Council, a local authority in South-West England. The guidance was published in 2015, and clearly sets solid wall insulation in its proper context as part of a holistic, whole-building approach to refurbishment.
