Projektsammanfattning:
The transition of Swedish steel industry toward fossil-free steel production will increase the demand for steel scrap, and end-of-life (EOL) scrap will be used in a larger share of production sites. The use of EOL scrap brings challenges, as it introduces so-called “tramp elements” such as tin or copper, that negatively impacts most steel alloy properties and cannot be easily removed from the steel. This project investigates how a combination of previously developed on-line analysis tools and metallurgical optimisation can enable greater scrap utilisation without reduced material performance. Techno-economic analyses will identify how the analysis equipment can best contribute to value creation and scrap supply resilience in the short and longer term. RESIO will enable industrial implementation of modern analysis methods, and bring them closer to industrial-scale deployment in Sweden.
